Every parish is to have a parish finance council in accordance with Church law. The pastor is responsible for assembling the parish finance council. The parish finance council is an advisory body to the pastor. Stewardship of our treasure is the important work of our Finance Council. The parish finance council helps to safeguard the assets of the organization and ensure proper use of funds. Further, in order to keep the entire parish community apprised of our financial position, an annual pulpit talk or presentation highlights the prior year’s actual results and current year’s budget – for both operating and development activities.
Members of the Council are invited to join by the pastor and are selected for their knowledge of finance, accounting, law, business or related experiences. The Council meets regularly to review and monitor results of operations, to prepare the fiscal year’s budget, to assist in implementation of internal control practices, to prepare the financial statements for the parish community and to strategize on future needs and fundraising.
